Medium Ancient Ginko

This piece measures 8” high, 9” wide at the bamboo top, and 8” deep.
Each edge is highlighted with gold leaf, the old world look feels like it these might belong in a library or place of reflection. This round body gourd sits firmly on a carved wooden base which is permanantly affixed to the gourd. The gourd is banded in gold leaf and has a neutral black base from which to highlight the multiple pyro engraved Ginko leaves. The ripe berries are also in gold leaf.

Ginkgo biloba, commonly known as ginkgo or gingko, also known as the maidenhair tree, is the only living species in the division Ginkgophyta, all others being extinct. It is found in fossils dating back 270 million years. Native to China, the tree is widely cultivated, and was cultivated early in human history. It is a powerful Because it's the only surviving member of an ancient order of plants, it's sometimes referred to as a living fossil.
