3 Seasons

“3 Seasons“ is an illustration of three seasonal changes of a Japanese maple. From spring to late fall, changes in the temperature from morning to nighttime affect the cells of the leaves resulting in a dynamic time of brilliant color change.

“3 Seasons” is a large gourd with a mahogany base and finish. The body of the gourd is finished in an hombre style, it is darker at the bottom and lightens to the top. Three panels of seasonal color each surrounded by a thin band of gold leaf adorn the body. Several coats of polyurethane protect the colors and finish.

Displaying is optimal on a turntable, or a surface that allows for multiple sides to be viewed. Well away from natural sunlight, this piece will last many years without fading. The delicacy of the stems and leaves and a carbon based black interior is best with as little handling as possible. Dust with a soft brush or microfiber cloth and no moisture.
