Earthen Weave

Earthen Weave 2021 is my expression of the cadence of weaving 21 rows of pine needles, stitch by stitch, with pine needles (added each stitch) during the Covid shutdown and my home time.

Affixed and interwoven atop a large body gourd, this shed antler served the deer through one season and was released. As was the gourd and the pine needles, all released by the plant life cycles.

So with us, in 2021, we experienced time like no other. All with the opportunity to either go with the flow or resist. It is up to each one of us to be intentional or to be at the effect of changes beyond our control. I chose strength and resilience in my quiet time as a meditation and prayer for humanity to heal and to release what no longer serves.
