Flow Koi Vessel SOLD PBS KVIE Art Auction October 1-3, 2020

For thousands of years Koi have symbolized balance and were referred to as “living jewels”.

Flow is a sweet vessel with a Flowing koi. Koi Fish also represent good fortune and good luck. They are associated with perserverance in adversity, strength of purpose and courage.

The body of the gourd is a voluptuous shape that adds to the grace of the movement of the koi. The main panel depicts a single koi swimming gracefully in a dark pool, it is a bright copper orange, and the fins and tail are white and orange with a variegated gold foil that has red, orange, gold highlights. The main panel is carved and finished with a carbon fiber material that absorbs rather than reflects light. It allows the graceful koi image to take center state. The gourd is surrounded by swirling waters of variegated gold foil that remind us that no matter what we are going through, there is likely beauty beyond and within the next moment.
